It’s fika time at the annual Holsby midsummer celebration! This year God sent us well over 500 guests to spend a day with family and friends and enjoy a bit of Swedish tradition. God provided ideal weather despite the forecast for showers. We had a beautiful day and our guests enjoyed the program of music, folk dancing and numerous activities for all ages, including the high ropes course, giant swing and “pamper pole.”
It was obvious that people had a blast! We sang and danced and had lots of fun, but more important was the chance we had to share both the love and truth of Jesus our Savior. Luke Thomas shared the very explicit message of the indwelling life of Christ through a great picture of how his bagpipes work. He explained that you can fill the pipes with whatever you want but they are made for air. They will not function properly, or at all, if they are not filled with the proper thing. So it is in this life. We were made to make beautiful music just like the pipes. However, we must fill our lives with Christ. He must become our source of life.
It was evident that the Lord’s hand of blessing was upon our midsummer gathering and we trust that many seeds were planted. I’ve made a short video of some clips taken throughout the day.
