Staff Prep Day 2012
In anticipation of the 2012-13 school year, the Holsby staff met for our annual offsite preparation day. As if on cue, the rain clouds drifted away, the sun came out and we enjoyed a productive time of introductions, sharing of information and team-building initiatives.
Jonathan and Danny led us in the third annual “Holsby Challenge,” which pitted five-member teams of staff against each other in a hilarious and highly competitive battle of wits, creativity and trivia. Ironically, we who are responsible for enforcing rules among the student body spent more time arguing about the fairness of rules for the various events than the actual competition, or so it seemed. But it was all in fun and served to draw us that much closer as a team.
As the day turned into evening, we enjoyed a delicious dinner of barbecued salmon and baked potato, followed by a time of worship, reflection and communion. Luke, Kristi and Samuel led us in a devotional and musical reflection on Psalm 34, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth… O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” Each member of the staff received a special keychain made by Elke as a reminder of the message we had heard.
As the Bible school year begins, we are committed to bless, praise, magnify and exalt our Lord together as staff and students. Will you join us? We appreciate your prayers for this coming Bible school year and for your partnership with us. More reports to come!
Thank you John for sharing. Your thoughts spoke to my heart and are a confirmation of God’s faithfulness.
Seeing all of the staff makes me miss EVERYONE. I could never have imagined what an impact that Holsby would have on my life and I am forever grateful. Thank you to each and everyone. I miss you so much and hope to visit sometime next year. I would like to share how God is working in my life and the lives of my grandchildren but it is difficult to put on paper right now. I am still in process of purchaing a home and it is taking most of my time.
I enjoyed very much the two weeks visit with Emelie. She fit into and bonded with our family very nicely. Think we’ll keep her:) But, I put her on a plane yesterday and she’ll be visiting other friends and family and then I will see her again in Arizona in October so it made saying goodbye much easier yesterday.
Greeting and love to all. Sandy
