When were you last in “awesome wonder” of our God? If we understood the totality of His wisdom, not limited to, but wonderfully represented in creation’s gifts: the blooming of a flower, the hungry songs of nesting birds or the shades of shifting light, I think we would be in a constant awesome wonder of Him. How much more when we add to creation’s gifts, His intentional interest directed towards us through the infinite power of His sovereignty and His intimate love experienced through His community. Both of these are life changing and, though not always acknowledged, they would also lead us into a constant awesome wonder of Him.
As you watch this slideshow, a summary of this year’s Bible school, many of you will know and remember the awesome wonder that is behind the fellowship of all that takes place here at Holsby…an awesome wonder that has changed our lives and will continue to change us until Christ returns.
As you were probably told when here, that awesome wonder isn’t because of Holsby; it’s because of Jesus Christ, who has never and will never leave us. Have a fika break and take a few moments to identify some of God’s awesome wonders in the midst of your work, your studies, your family, your church and the rest of your surroundings.
About Luke Thomas - Bible School Principal
One of my favorite words when thinking about the Christian journey is the word “discovery.” When departing every moment of every day in dependence on Jesus Christ, one discovers a worthwhile adventure that defines authentic Christianity. The gospel saves us and the gospel grows us, and that is what excites me about life and what takes place on a daily basis at Holsby in the lives of students, staff, and guests.
The Lord has blessed me to enjoy this journey with my wonderful wife Cheryl and our and our children Emmalise, Ember and Hudson. I met Cheryl while serving as an English teacher in Mongolia, where we then spent our first year of marriage and later returned to her home in southern Kansas to work on the family farm. I grew up in Colorado at a Torchbearer school by the name of Ravencrest, which instilled in me a love for the Torchbearers ministry that has now led us to Holsby.
On our irresponsible days we enjoy about anything related to sports and the outdoors. I particularly enjoy a good soccer game, being on a mountain trail, catching up on a good book at the café, or any type of casual time with friends and family. I also enjoy an occasional blow on the bagpipes when there is an eager ear to hear.
I am in awe of a God who never changes. His promises for us who believe are still the same. I loved seeing the faces of the students at Holsby and all the new and exciting things you are doing there. It’s been 38 years since I was a student at Holsby and can tell you it was one of the best experiences of my life! I’m so excited that next year, 2016-2017, my daughter Linnea McClain will be coming to Holsby! She has prayed for this for many years and cannot wait for what God has planned for her. God bless you all at Holsby. We are covering you in prayer!

On of mine attended Holsby, too, about five years ago and loved it! If you see this, please shoot me an email: norske.poole@gmail.com. Anyone else thinking about Holsby…if you feel God tugging on your heart with a desire to go:. Do It! One of my favorite gifts from God in my life!
